Flooring!

October 30, 2012

Its been a busy couple of weeks! Since my last post we have gotten all of our ceilings and walls painted (thanks to my Aunt Linda, Aunt Marty, and my cousin Rachel)! We spent an entire weekend doing this and I am sure without their help, I would still be painting!

The following weekend, the guys laid tile in our master bath and started putting down the hardwood floors. We went with real hardwood, hickory, and chose the character grade to give it an older look and feel. We love the original hardwood floors in our house and decided that we wanted something that was similair to them. Our original floors are over 200 years old though, so complemeting them was a better way to go than trying to match exactly. We chose the same wood and grain type, but went with a natural stain instead of trying to match what we had. The last coat of polyurethane is being put on the hardwood floors today and our bedroom carpet is getting installed! Woohoo! Also our new bedroom set (that I bought in August) is being delivered today as well! Just trim, doors, and finishing up our bathroom and I can start decorating! I've been waiting for this day for months! Am looking forward to ridding my laundry room and basement of all the things I've purchased and have been hoarding since July for the new rooms!

Below are a few pictures of our progress:

Bathroom tile before grout.

Hardwood floors before being stained/sealed.
Hardwood floors after being stained. They still need one more coat of polyurethane.

I cant wait to see it all finished!
