We completed our dining room addition last October and have been looking for a large (at least 10 ft) farmhouse style table since then. After months of finding things that were either way out of our price range or not long enough, we decided to build our own.
My father-in-law called stumbled across 122X44 in Hickory butcher block that had been custom ordered and then cancelled at one of the lumber yards. The Amish guy who owned the yard wanted to sell it for his cost ($500), my FIL offered $300 and we got it for $400!
After getting the top home, my Husband ordered the materials for the legs and skirting. We went with true 6x6 legs and 2x6 skirting. He also stopped at a junk store and found the square head hardware and turn buckles. With help from my dad and my uncle, Wes built this is a little over a week! We carried the completed piece in the night before our Anniversary.
It is beautiful! Now I just need to find chairs to go with it!
I don't know the exact details that went into building this table, but I know that it is a GORGEOUS piece of furniture and I can not wait to decide on chairs to go with it! Didn't Wes do an Amazing job! I am so lucky to have such a talented husband! We are looking forward to having family over for dinner now! We will have plenty of room to sit!
